Our dog's injured back
Author: Shauna Dastrup Location: UT, United States Posted: Jun 11, 2004 Views: 2437 Keywords: animal, vertebrate, pet
This last Saturday we were with most of our family for a special occasion. Our Nikki (our little pik) travels with us where ever we go and loves the grandkids. During the course of visiting, one of our granddaughters brought Nikki to us saying 'I think our dog (younger lab) hurt your dog'. We could see she was hunched up....so it looked like her spine was injured.
That evening we could tell she was in 'real trouble' and could not walk. We used oils (Rain Drop) on her spine. (Valor, Idaho Balsam Fir, Frankinsence, Lavender, Cypress, Helichrysum). This perked her up a bit....but she still couldn't walk) We also used some Di-Tone on her tummy and paws because she got hold of a piece of Jerky (during the time we were visiting with the kids) which Shauna tried to grab, but she swallowed it right down.
Sunday Morning there was still no improvement so we called a Vet for an examination, which she was more interested in what the oils were and what she had to offer. (We have sent her an education package to help her learn)
We then drove about 450 miles on Sunday to return to the Motor home. Tuesday we took Nikki into Dr. Nancy Brandt (YL Distributor) to be examined which she said we were doing everything correctly. She then worked with acupuncture and did an adjustment. She told us to use one Detoxzyme a day and gave us other 'natural' products (pills?) she should take daily that would help with inflamation.
Niki can walk (it's an awkward walk) today and we are taking her back to Dr. Brandt in a couple hours for a check up....more adjustment and acupuncture we think. But what we are seeing is Nikki is far more alert and we feel she is going to make it now.
Last Sunday night we gave her very little hope and we shed our tears preparing for the worst. (For 9 years ago we lost a little pik (TeCe) to the same kind of problem to his spine which led to a stroke and of course we didn't know about YL then)
She is a loving little dog and is truly our Young Living Essential Oils Mascot. As we travel she wants to visit everyone and before long they will ask how we keep her coat so shinny. We then have a 'reason' to tell them we have a 'special pet shampoo' with no chemicals which leads to giving away our sharing package with the Missing Link tape.
At least today we see her mind alert and yesterday was the first time she barked and wagged her tail. These experiences with her gives us another reason to be thankfull for our Young Living Products and our knowledge of how to use them. Now 4 weeks later she has fully recovered using our natural supplements and therapeutic essential oils.
