I purchased a 5 year old horse last year, he was suitable for the needs for my business at the time of purchase. I know that young horses do require more training time than the seasoned horses. This spring we have spent 2 months doing slow ground work with this young horse and when it came time to mount him (he has been ridden for 2 years) even after many weeks of prep work, lungeing him, eventually with the saddle, bridle, etc. at this point he had been ridden 5-6 times this season. He just had a day that he was so unconnected, that he bucked the advanced rider I had on him off twice. I put grounding oil on my wrists, then let him inhale and then put a few drops on the bulbs of his front heals. Within a few minutes, the rider mounted again, and successfully walked, then trotted him around the round pen and he was fine. I continued using the grounding blend around this horse while we were training him for a few more weeks and it has helped him be more connected to the situation.
