How I protected my vegetable garden from animal intrusion was by using clove oil. Most animals (deer, rabbits, coyotes, racoons etc) do not like the smell of cloves. I put a few drops of clove oil in a spray bucket and sprayed around perimeter of garden on a daily basis. I had no problem with animals raiding my garden and had a spectacular garden of growth.
