Note: Not all essential oil brands are the same, and you get what you pay for. Whenever I have back or leg discomfort I have found a great combo of four oils:

* Aroma Siez
* Valor
* Peppermint
* Copaiba

I simply apply 2-3 drops of each oil (in that order) to my lower back, behind my knee and on my ankle. Usually within 10 minutes the discomfort has subsided or, if really bad, then it at least becomes tolerable for me.

I leaned this regimen from an experienced friend for a similar issue and it really keeps me going from month to month. I have recently utilized Aroma Siez in place of the PanAway, Deep Relief and Relive It oil blends as my new "go to" oil for discomfort.

Occasionally to drive the oils deeper I will apply a wet, warm rag on top of the oils and lay a dry towel over top to really get the oils in quick! This could also be achieved by getting into the tub for 15-20 minutes after applying the needed oils.
