Warning: Not all essential oil brands are the same quality. If you expect to achieve results similar to those described in this testimonial, then ensure that the oil you are using is made from pesticide-free plants grown in optimal conditions. Also, the brand should be a 100% pure, high-quality essential oil that does not contain any synthetic additives. Do your own research or ask trusted friends to find a brand that is reputable.

My middle son had the 24-hour fever virus, and I was able to keep him comfortable with only Young Living essential oils until he was better.

I would give him a detox bath if his fever would ever reach 102 degrees or higher. I would run cool bath water, put 5 drops of Frankincense and Lavender essential oils in the water, and have him sit in the tub as long as possible.

Then I would rub down his body with Peppermint essential oil once I removed him from the bathtub. As long as the fever was present, I would alternate every 10 minutes applying one drop of Peppermint and one drop of Frankincense in his belly button.

He would sip on 8 ounces of distilled water with 3 drops of Lemon essential oil. I would have him drink 2 ounces of NingXia Red 4 to 6 times daily. I would make a NingXia Red slushie for him to suck on too, containing:

3 ounces of NingXia Red
2 drops of Lemon essential oil

I mixed it up in a cup, placed it in the freezer for an hour, and then crushed it up with a knife. My son then would eat it with a spoon.

My oldest son got the 24-hour fever the next day. I did the same protocol, and, after reading in my essential oils reference book (essential oil reference book), I decided to use some of the essential oils that were suggested. I gave him a capsule of 3 drops Copaiba, 3 drops Idaho Balsam Fir, and 3 drops Frankincense. His fever went down soon thereafter and never returned.

Supporting Scientific Studies
1."Essential oils from anise, hyssop, thyme, ginger, camomile and sandalwood were screened for their inhibitory effect against herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2) [genital herpes]. A clearly dose-dependent virucidal activity against HSV-2 could be demonstrated for all essential oils tested. Chamomile oil exhibited a high selectivity index and seems to be a promising candidate for topical therapeutic application as virucidal agents for treatment of herpes genitalis."Link
2."The presence of beta-caryophyllene in many essential oils might contribute strongly to their antiviral ability. These results indicate that phenylpropanoids and sesquiterpenes present in essential oils contribute to their antiviral activity against HSV [herpes simplex virus]."Link
3."Taken together, we found an essential oil blend [Orange, Clove, Cinnamon Bark, Eucalyptus, and Rosemary (most components of Thieves blend)] notably attenuates influenza virus PR8 infection in vitro via inhibition of viral protein synthesis at the post-transcription level. The lack of toxicity and potent specific inhibition ability make the essential oil a possible antiviral drug for influenza virus proliferation control and treatment."Link
4."Burn Healing Potential of Nigella sativa seed oil in rats.... Nigella sativa L. (Black cumin) has shown a broad spectrum of pharmacological effects like antipyretic [fever reducing], analgesic [pain reducing], anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial.... The present study suggests the burn wound healing action of seeds may be due to anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and antimicrobial activities of major compounds in the oil."Link
5."[W]e studied the anti-inflammatory and gastroprotective effects of C. citratus [Lemongrass] and E. citriodora [Lemon Eucalyptus] essential oils on formol-induced edema and acetic acid induced abdominal cramps in Wistar rats.... In vivo analysis and histological assay showed that the two essential oils displayed significant dose-dependent edema [swelling] inhibition effect over time. They displayed strong analgesic [pain-relieving] and antipyretic [fever-reducing] properties similar to that induced by 50 mg/kg of acetylsalicylate of lysine.... This work demonstrates the anti-inflammatory property of Cymbopogon citratus [Lemongrass] and Eucalyptus citriodora [Lemon Eucalyptus], suggesting their potential role as adjuvant therapeutic alternatives in dealing with inflammatory-related diseases."Link
