Our 7-year-old son got himself a bad cavity (after mommy and daddy stopped brushing his teeth and he started all by himself). When I say bad... it was bad -- so much so that it started bleeding. Who knew!?
Our dentist said that he does not like to put a filling on a baby tooth if there is a molar already coming in within the next year. So he said that he would put a filling on it if it started to hurt.
Sure enough, the cavity started bleeding, and our son was in agony; and, as it always goes, it was a weekend. I started putting a drop of Oregano essential oil, neat (undiluted), in the cavity and on the tooth itself. I did that three times a day over the weekend. The cavity stopped bleeding, and the discomfort was all gone by Sunday.
On Monday I called the dentist, and he said that, if it really was that bad, he would just pull the tooth. When we were seen on Tuesday, I told our dentist what I did, and both he and his dental assistant had never heard of anyone using Oregano essential oil on a cavity. It was the condition of our son's cavity and surrounding gum that made them both very interested. The dentist could not believe that the cavity had been bleeding previously, as it was all healed up now.
Our dentist is not a natural/holistic dentist, but he does not do fluoride treatments and has the correct protocols for mercury filling removals. So I was surprised that he had never come across Oregano oil before. He and the dental assistant did not even know what it is! I explained to them that it is a natural antibiotic. It kills the bacteria, so I was thinking that the bacteria may be what causes the cavity. Therefore, eliminate bacteria and stop the cavity from getting bigger, right?
I continued using the Oregano essential oil on my son for one week, twice a day, and then for another week just after he brushed his teeth at night. I stopped the regimen when our son told us that he could eat on that side and because he was tired of laying on the ottoman with his head down for a minute with Oregano oil in his tooth (it was the top molar).
My son has had no problems whatsoever in the next 11 months that it took for that poor shell of a tooth to come out. And he only got a penny for it. 😄
The new tooth underneath is perfect.
